A Sports Betting Pick by Shady

Overview :
Geelong sitting top of the ladder have won their opening 3 games of the season. Their performance in wins against Collingwood, Melbourne, Adelaide have seen the Cats move from a contender to favourites to win the flag by bookmakers.
GWS Giants on the other hand are 2 – 1 sitting 4th on the ladder. They hammered Essendon in the opening around as well as Richmond last week but they were also beaten convincingly away to the Eagles in between.
The Giant’s form at home is somewhat really different to their form away. It is not possible to treat this GWS side away the same as they are at home.
The giants have lost 3 key players during the transfer period in Rory Lobb, Tom Scully and Dylan Shiel. While Jeremy Cameron is making amends for the loss of the trio by kicking goals, it is hard to expect Cameron to score 4+ against Geelong.
Cameron may have kicked 7 goals pass the Tigers, but Alex Rance being injured had a major factor in Cameron kicking 7.
We all know about the big guns Geelong have in Dangerfield, Selwood, Ablett and Duncan but what may be overlooking are their supporting crew. Tim Kelly had a good season last year and he look like he has up his game this season and will an important role for the Cats.
The emergence of young Gryan Miers has somewhat caught many by surprise. He shot accuracy and decision making was superb last week and playing alongside veterans like Ablett will only make him better.
Shady's Verdict:
After 3 rounds of the 2019 AFL Season, Geelong to me are looking firm favourites to win top the ladder and win the minor at least. On paper they have been really solid since adding Dangerfield a few seasons ago, but I think they are finally putting in the performance and results you expect from them.
With the talent and calibre Geelong had at their disposals, I consider them “underachieving” for the past few season, in particular last season after adding Gary Ablett.
The Giant have not done much wrong, but I believe their 50 point win against Richmond have given punters some false illusion. The Giants are a solid team at home but totally different on the road.
Giants are likely to finish in the top 6 this season, maybe top 4 if their lucky but I cannot see them as a genuine contender for the flag this season. They had some good chances when they reached the preliminary finals for two consecutive seasons but fail to make it count and they have lost some quality players since.
The Cats to me is my pick of the week. They do not lose often at the GMHBA and the midfield power of Dangerfield, Duncan, Selwood can Kelly will be too much for the Giants.
