Analysis:West Ham enters this match with Newcastle United knowing that they have failed to beat the Magpies in their last eight meetings. Their last win was at September 2001. The visitors on the other hand have scored 11 goals in their last four meetings with the Hammers so will be confident of a good result here.
Both sides comes into this match with nothing to play as they are out of the relegation zone while a place in Europe is also too far for them to catch. However, both sides will want to play for pride and get the win here and go higher up the standings.
The home side has only managed two wins from nine matches which is no wonder that manager Alan Curbishley has been criticized. Last weekend they managed to beat bottom club Derby. However West Ham have not secured back to back wins since September 2007 with a success over Kevin Keegan's Magpies.
As for Newcastle they are in good form now managing to win four of their last five games. Michael Owen has come to form at the right time, managing to score six goals in his last six games. They have also kept three clean sheets in their last three games so they will be eager for a fourth clean sheet here.
With regards to the team news, striker Dean Ashton could return for this match after completing his full training this week. However, Anton Ferdinand is out of this match as he is out with a hamstring injury.
Keegan on the other hand is likely to keep faith with the same side that beat Sunderland last week. The likes of Emre (calf), Stephen Carr (hamstring), Claudio Cacapa (groin), Peter Ramage (knee) and James Milner (foot) are still some way to go before they can return while Shay Given (groin) is unlikely to play again this season as he recovers from surgery. So we will see Steve Harper starts in goal.
