Arminia Bielefeld has really impressed me in the last couple of years. Those who follow their path will agree they are going through a meteoric rise, so pay attention to them this season.
As a 3.Liga side, they reached the DFB Cup Final last season (eliminating Bundesliga sides along the way), and got promoted to the 2.Bundesliga. Their appetites are rising, and they feel they can battle for Bundesliga promotion soon. I am not entirely sure it could happen this year, but in a year or two, it could well happen if they continue on the same path.
So far, Arminia Bielefeld has won three and drawn once in their five 2.Bundesliga games. Last week, they beat Magdeburg 2-0, which was their second successive unbeaten game.
They have scored 11 goals in five games (the most of all 2.Bundesliga teams) and their defense has been pretty solid as well, allowing only four goals.
Greuther Furth
Greuther Furth’s 2.Bundesliga start has been quite bad, with them losing three of their five matches. On top of that, they conceded twice or more in all their games this season, which shows they are having a lot of problems everywhere.
Last week, Greuther Furth lost 0-3 at home to Kaiserslautern, with their defender Noah König receiving a red card in the very first minute of the match.
I did not see anything positive from Greuther Furth so far, even in the two games they won. The 3-2 win against Dynamo Dresden in the first round was hardly achieved, and in their second, they conceded four goals in the lucky 4-5 away win against Magdeburg.
The Betting Verdict
Four of the last six duels between the sides had ended in draws.
However, I consider Arminia Bielefeld heavy favorites here due to their stellar recent performances, plus Greuther Furth are in shambles.
We could well see goals in both nets here, but I would go with Arminia Bielefeld to win the match.
