Magdeburg is the second-leakiest team currently in the 2.Bundesliga, allowing 12 goals in their five games.
Their form is horrific – Magdeburg lost four of their five league matches, including all of the last three. They were no match last week against Arminia Bielefeld, losing 2-0 away and played lethargically the entire game.
Last week’s defeat was also Magdeburg’s third straight game in which they conceded twice or more.
Last season, Magdeburg finished in the high 5th spot on the table, but there is a big difference. They were coached by Christian Titz previous season, who is now doing excellent things as head coach of Hannover 96. Obviously, the new, unknown coach they appointed this season is not good enough to guide them to a solid season.
Schalke 04
I am surprised by the positive results of Schalke 04 this season. What has been mind-boggling is how they won three of their five matches to date, by scoring just 5 goals in all games.
Schalke 04 won back-to-back before narrowly losing 0-1 to Holstein Kiel last week and will be looking to get back to winning ways against out-of-sorts Magdeburg.
Despite scoring only five goals, Schalke 04 has one of the tighter defenses in 2.Bundesliga, allowing only four goals since the start of the season.
Regarding their recent matches against Magdeburg, Schalke 04 has failed to beat them in three consecutive games, drawing once and losing twice.
The Betting Verdict
This is a tricky game, but my gut feeling says Schalke 04 could win it. Magdeburg is under big pressure after losing three in a row, but they have shown nothing so far.
Schalke 04 was decent in their three wins this season, and at least they could stay unbeaten against poor Magdeburg.
For a bit safer bet, I recommend backing Schalke 04 on a double chance bet to get at least one point from this trip.
