After a poor 2.Bundesliga start and going winless in four matches (two defeats, two draws), Hertha Berlin finally achieved their first win of the season last week. It was pretty unexpected as they defeated then 2.Bundesliga leaders Hannover 96 with no less than 0-3 away!
It was an odd win achieved by youngsters, but we will see if it’s a one-off thing or if something has really improved.
The truth is, Hertha Berlin was dismal in their previous four unbeaten games before the last win. Their coach still experiments with the line-up; there are many new players, and there are a lot of youngsters stepping up.
Hertha Berlin still seeks a win at home, but in their defence, their previous two home games were against pretty strong opponents – Karlsruher SC (0-0) and SV Elversberg (0-2).
In favour of Hertha Berlin is also the recent history, which says that the Berliners have beaten SC Paderborn five times in their most recent six duels, including three wins in the last four games played at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin.

Hertha Berlin’s win against the leaders last week will give them the necessary confidence boost, and I also expect them to play well in this home game.
Despite me leaning a bit more towards SC Paderborn to get the points here, I would not back them. Instead, I expect both sides to show offensive styles and go for points, which should guarantee an open match.
