Following a solid 2-0 win away from home at La Louviere in the Belgian top flight action last weekend, Mechelen will no doubt be keen to return to the home surroundings of their Veoliastadion Achter De Kazerne for this upcoming clash with lowly Zulte Waregem on Saturday afternoon, seeking back-to-back wins.
Mechelen have produced a bit of a mixed bag of results in recent weeks in the Pro League with two wins, two draws but also two defeats but nevertheless, Frederik Vanderbiest’s side still occupy a place in the top six of the table, in 5th spot.
Saturday’s hosts have slipped to just three losses at home so far in this season’s Pro League campaign within an overall home record of 4-6-3 16/15 and although the draw has featured prominently, Mechelen will be confident they can convert all three points against Zulte Waregem.
The visitors occupy 12th place in the Pro League table but find themselves just one point above the relegation zone ahead of Saturday’s tough looking trip to face Mechelen at the Veoliastadion Achter De Kazerne.
Zulte Waregem’s situation hasn’t been helped by the fact that the visitors have been handed four defeats within their last five matches overall in the Pro League and although they registered a welcome 1-0 home win against Dender, losses at the hands of Club Brugge, Westerlo, St Truidense and Anderlecht have prevented Sven Vandenbroeck’s side from pulling free of the bottom four clubs.
A poor looking away record of 2-5-6 18/24 hasn’t done the visitors any favours either and another tough Saturday afternoon seems to beckon once again for Zulte Waregem.
