2009-02-11 - Spain vs England
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:Ever since Fabio Cappello came into the hot seat he has done a great job with England managing a good period of spell under his guidance. He guided England last year to 8 out of 10 wins which also included four straight wins in their opening 2010 qualifiers.
But the challenge from Spain will be the toughest faced by the former Real Madrid coach. Spain are the Euro 2008 winners and are ranked no.1 and are unbeaten in 28 matches at the moment.
Spain have also managed two 1-0 wins over England while the last encounter on Spanish soil in 2004 saw it being marred by racist chants.
But for David Beckham who is on loan at A.C Milan it could be a special night as he needs one more cap to equal Bobby Moore's record of 108 for an outfield player. But James Milner is targetting his first senior appearance after brilliant performance for his clu Aston Villa as is West Ham United striker Carlton Cole.
Luke Young has been forced to withdraw due to injury however. Steven Gerrard misses out with a torn hamstring. That means Gareth Barry will partner Frank Lampard in the centre of the field. Striker Gabriel Agbonlahor is due to start this match alongside Emile Heskey as Wayne Rooney is unfit.
As for Spain, Barcelona pair Gerard Pique and Sergio Busquets is likely to start this match but experienced centre-back Carles Puyol misses out with a leg injury. There are five Liverpool players called up which includes goalkeeper Jose Reina, full-back Alvaro Arbeloa, midfielders Albert Riera and Xabi Alonso, and striker Fernando Torres.
Torres is likely to start alongside David Villa of Valencia rekindling their partnership at Euro 2008. Watch out for Marcos Sennacombining with Xavi in the middle of the midfield as well.
However I am going for England not to lose this match and accept the 1/2 ball here.
Cheers and good luck,
