2010-02-21 - Aston Villa vs Burnley
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:Aston Villa who are pushing for a Champions League spot, welcomes the visit of Burnley who are fighting against relegation. The Villians have a busy schedule ahead as they will face Crystal Palace on Wednesday for the FA Cup fifth round replay before the Carling Cup showdown with Manchester United next weekend.
As it stands now, Martin O'Neill's side are currently seventh in the standings but are just three points behind Manchester City who occupy the final UEFA Champions League place. And Villa knows that with City taking on fellow European-challengers Liverpool on Sunday, Villa have a chance to improve their position in the table.
Villa knows they have the edge here as Burnley have the worst away record of all teams in the Premiership. To date, Burnley have yet to win away from Turf Moor this season and have only picked up one point on the road so far. Even Porstmouth, being cash strapped and bottom of the table have a better record away from home than Burnley.
Burnley went down 3-0 at Fulham in their last game, although they will continue to try and turn their form at home, where they beat West Ham 2-1 last time out into points when they meet Aston Villa here today.
As for the team news, Burnley will have defender Leon Cort fit for this match. Cort, signed from Stoke last month, was forced off with a groin injury in the Fulham defeat 10 days ago, but is now fit for this game. Veteran Graham Alexander will be assessed before he is given the green light to appear here.
Stephen Jordan (hamstring) and Chris McCann (knee) could come back into contention but Steven Caldwell (groin) is still out of this match.
The home side, Aston Villa will be hoping to have strikers Gabriel Agbonlahor and Emile Heskey fit in time for this match. Agbonlahor missed last weekend's cup tie at Palace with the leg injury he picked up in the Premier League game against Manchester United while Heskey was forced off against Palace with a groin problem but both he and Agbonlahor have been able to train this week so O'Neill will be crossing his fingers they will be match fit in time for the kickoff.
Captain Stiliyan Petrov will start this match despite knee and ankle problems. Meanwhile full-back Stephen Warnock will continue in the starting lineup after making his comeback from a shin injury against Palace.
Take Aston Villa to get all three points in this fixture.
Cheers and good luck,
