The Number 5 Seed Wisconsin Badgers were not able to contain the High Point Panthers in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament and that is one of the stand out upsets of March Madness so far. The Panthers will take aim at the Number 4 Seed in the Second Round and the players have been given the kind of confidence boost that will be hard to shake.
That Number 4 Seed is the Arkansas Razorbacks who won the SEC Tournament and who have a Head Coach with a vast amount of experience in College Basketball.
John Calipari may have left the Kentucky Wildcats after a disappointing upset loss in the NCAA Tournament two years ago, but he has sparked the Razorbacks and they will be expected to match the run to the Sweet Sixteen achieved last year. However, there are bigger expectations within the squad after the performance in the SEC Tournament and Arkansas have the best player on the court.
Darius Acuff Jr had a solid First Round game in the win over the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors, but he was also well supported and this Razorbacks Offensive unit should be able to expose the Panthers with more consistency than the Wisconsin Badgers.
Focus is going to be the key for the higher Seeded team, but the High Point upset in the First Round should make that easier.
The Panthers took care of the ball more efficiently than the Wisconsin Badgers and they had a very good day shooting from the field. They can back that up against this Arkansas Defensive unit that have been a potential weakness, although the Panthers will find it very tough to contain the Razorbacks.
Arkansas have been able to overwhelm teams in the six game winning run they carry into the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament. They blew out the Rainbow Warriors with a really poor three point shooting effort, but they have usually much more efficient from that distance and even a par effort may be enough for the Razorbacks to avoid an upset.
If High Point can continue to turn the ball over as they can, they can keep this one closer than the layers imagine, but it looks a tough task to follow up the opening upset.
Prediction
This should be a fun Second Round game with both teams capable Offensively, but the Arkansas Razorbacks are rightly favoured and can cover this spread as the favourite.
