The alarm is loud in VfL Bochum, after the team lost five of their six games since dropping out of the Bundesliga. Now they are at risk of possibly even dropping from 2.Bundesliga, and nothing seems to be working for them.
Following the dismissal of experienced coach Dieter Hecking, VfL Bochum suffered another loss last week under interim coach David Siebers. They got defeated 2-1 by cellar-dwellers Nurnberg, which piles up more pressure. That was their fourth straight league defeat.
Interestingly, VfL Bochum held all their last four opponents to a draw in the first half, yet they lost all matches. Keeping focus is a serious problem, and their mentality is not right at the moment.
Fortuna Düsseldorf
Fortuna Düsseldorf is another team that failed to meet expectations at the start of this 2.Bundesliga season. After fighting for promotion in recent years, they now find themselves struggling near the relegation zone.
Fortuna Düsseldorf have lost three of their six games so far, with the most recent defeat coming last week, 0-3 at home to SV Darmstadt 98.
Some rumours suggest that if Fortuna Düsseldorf loses this game, their head coach, Daniel Thioune, will be sacked. He is under quite pressure, and even the team's sporting director, Klaus Aloffs, mentioned that they will hold their coach responsible if something doesn’t change for the better.
One positive thing for Fortuna Düsseldorf is that they achieved both of their two wins so far at away grounds, against SC Paderborn and Preussen Münster (both 1-2 wins).
The Betting Verdict
When comparing the two sides, Fortuna Düsseldorf is definitely the stronger one, even though their recent results have been rather poor. The visitors are in shaky form, but I expect them to stabilize soon.
I cannot say the same for VfL Bochum. They currently look deflated, without energy and motivation. Many issues surround them, so we will see how things will come out for them.
Anyhow, this is a tricky game as both teams badly need points. Although I lean more towards Fortuna Düsseldorf, the main recommended bet here is to take both sides to score in the match at good odds.
