3rd placed Hibernians made it two wins on the trot in the Scottish Premiership over the weekend when Hibs registered a 2-1 victory away from home at strugglers Aberdeen and David Gray’s side will now return to home advantage at Easter Road for Wednesday night’s clash with an indifferent looking Rangers outfit.
Hibernian have posted recent back-to-back wins against the likes of Livingston and Aberdeen while the bigger picture shows the Edinburgh club have been dealt just the one loss so far in this season’s Premiership campaign.
That loss came in the form of a 1-0 defeat away from home at fierce rivals Hearts in the Edinburgh derby but three wins along with points gained having been involved in five draws have helped the hosts up into 3rd spot and just three points shy of 2nd placed Celtic.
Rangers have had to endure a torrid start to this new Premiership campaign by their standards as The Gers occupy a disappointing 5th place in the Scottish top flight table although they did manage to capture all three points by way of a 3-1 home win against Kilmarnock on the weekend.
Former Sheffield Wednesday manager, Danny Röhl has taken over the reins at Ibrox and his task is to transform an out-of-form Rangers outfit back to their former glory days, but this will be no easy assignment as the visitors have registered just one win in their last five matches in all competitions.
Three defeats on the trot in the Europa League to Genk, Sturm Graz and Brann have virtually ended any hopes of progressing on the European front, while The Gers now trail the league leaders Hearts by a significant 13-point margin heading into this midweek fixture.
