Bayer Leverkusen
Bayer Leverkusen have four points from their opening three Bundesliga games, with a 2-3 defeat at SV Elversberg followed by a 4-0 win over Union Berlin and a 2-2 draw at Augsburg. Patrik Schick has been the constant threat, scoring in all three Bundesliga matches and becoming the only player to find the net on every matchday so far.
The attack is producing plenty, too. Bayer Leverkusen have attempted 60+ shots in three Bundesliga games, more than any other Bundesliga side, while Schick is not their only option. Christian Kofane has already scored twice despite just 121 league minutes, giving Carles Martínez another option up front.
Bayer Leverkusen also come into this after beating NK Celje 2-0 in the Europa League on Wednesday. Guéla Doué is the latest injury concern after suffering a calf problem in training, which could leave Martínez with another defensive decision to make.
RB Leipzig
RB Leipzig have also scored nine goals in their first three Bundesliga games, although they have already shown how different their home and away performances can be. They beat Borussia Mönchengladbach 3-0 and Hamburger SV 5-0 at home, but were beaten 3-1 by Werder Bremen on their only away trip so far.
Antonio Nusa has started the season particularly well, already contributing four goals or assists, while Tidiam Gomis has three. Christopher Nkunku also got on the scoresheet against Hamburger SV, adding another attacking option for Martín Demichelis.
The concern is what happens away from home. RB Leipzig have lost their last three away matches, including a 4-1 defeat at Bayer Leverkusen in their last visit to the BayArena in May.
Assan Ouédraogo was forced off against Hamburger SV and is a doubt, while Christoph Baumgartner, Rocco Reitz, Lukas Klostermann and Viggo Gebel are also listed among the absentees.
The Betting Verdict
I like Bayer Leverkusen here, although I don't think this will be easy. Both attacks have looked dangerous, but RB Leipzig haven't convinced me to back them away from home, and the BayArena is a completely different test from the 5-0 win over Hamburger SV.
The home win is around 2.00, which is enough for me to take a chance. Bayer Leverkusen are creating a lot, Schick keeps scoring, and RB Leipzig have already lost their last three away games.
My top bet is Bayer Leverkusen to win. I can see both sides getting chances, but I think the hosts have enough to edge it 2-1.
