VfB Stuttgart won three and lost two of their five Bundesliga games to date. However, their displays have been much better in recent weeks, with them beating St.Pauli and Koln in their last two games.
That good form did not continue in Europe, however, where VfB Stuttgart got beaten 2-0 by Basel last Thursday evening. That was probably their poorest performance of the season, where they also missed a penalty. Perhaps that sobering loss will keep them more alert and motivated to bounce back with a win against lowly Heidenheim.
None of VfB Stuttgart’s four Bundesliga duels against Heidenheim ended in a draw, with them winning twice and losing twice against them. Interestingly, last season they lost 0-1 at home, but beat them 1-3 in Heidenheim.
Heidenheim
Heidenheim started with four straight Bundesliga defeats before finally winning 2-1 against Augsburg last week. That was a relief, which should help their confidence, but they are still a very weak side.
They only scored four goals in five games (twice last week), meaning their attack is almost non-existent. They did not create many chances apart from last week’s match, and we’ll see if they can replicate the same performance. They will surely field the same starting lineup that won against Augsburg last week.
Heidenheim are not scoring much, and also their defending has been poor – they conceded twice or more in four of their five Bundesliga games.
The Betting Verdict
VfB Stuttgart was dismal in their midweek European loss, but that should inspire them for a stronger performance here. They won back-to-back in the Bundesliga, and I believe that run will continue with a third straight win against Heidenheim.
