Torino Team News
Torino only seems to play the big teams this season. So far they won against Roma and against Napoli in the previous round, should have won against Lazio (3-3), played 0-0 with Fiorentina, and lost big to Inter and Atalanta.
This means we don't yet know how will Torino look like against a fellow bottom-half team, a defensive one at that. We're probably looking at a worse offensive performance as there will be less space at the back than when they play big sides. But Torino's game plan will likely remain the same, they'll be searching for a 1-0 win.
Genoa Team News
Things aren't looking good for Genoa. Due to lack of goalscoring - only three goals in seven rounds - Genoa isn't perceived as a threat by any team and as a result they're still winless.
This is just a poor side that will likely get relegated unless they turn a corner, as they aren't taking enough risks. They are intent on playing a good football game overall, whereas they'd probably be getting more points if they opted for a high-risk high-reward style. But that's not in their DNA. So this remains a side that plays good games but is completely hopeless in front of goal.
Probable Lineups
Torino (3-5-2): Israel - Tameze, Maripan, Coco - Pedersen, Asslani, Casadei, Vlasic, Biraghi - Ngonge, Vlasic - Simeone, Adams. Coach Baroni.
Genoa (4-2-3-1): Leali - Sabelli, Ostigard, Vasquez, Martin - Masini, Frendrup - Norton-Cuffy, Malinovsky, Vitinha - Ekhator. Coach Vieira.
The Betting Market
The price on Torino is high, 2.25, because this is a low-scoring game and these tend to gravitate towards a nil-nil. Under 2.5 Goals is priced at 1.50 and that one's almost a banker. You can get better value out of Both Teams To Score: NO at 1.67 though.
The Betting Verdict
Torino never does what you expect them to, never performs the same two weeks in a row, and certainly never wins twice in a row. When the match suits them they do well, while on the other hand they can look toothless when the opposing defence is a mismatch for what their offensive players can and can not do.
Still, what we've seen so far from Torino was impressive - certainly better than we expected - so we say Torino has a chance to get yet one more instance of their favourite 1-0 result here. Including the two cup outings against Modena and Pisa, this would be the fifth if it happens.
We're looking at a low-scoring game in any case, so the Under 2.5 Goals for 1.50 is a strong choice. But we prefer the value that comes from the 2.25 on the home side as we rate their chances higher than the implied 44%.
