While Sassuolo isn't the kind of side that can dominate an opponent, they certainly have a formidable trio of offensive players that are perfectly capable of scoring a goal against anyone, and without much assistance from other players. This is what makes Sassuolo dangerous, as Genoa found out with a 1-2 home defeat to Neroverdi in midweek.
Sassuolo is now perfectly settled in Serie A, as evident by their four wins so far. This is, contrary to popular belief, a slow-paced side that prefers an uneventful game, especially in front of their own goal. But then, when in the attacking third, they suddenly start playing directly and efficiently. This playing style should be trademarked.

Genoa is a team without a forward. If you look at their offensive midfield you'll find nice smooth dribblers and passers, but just like so many sides these days, they're being let down by the inability to break through and actually score a goal. None of their four forwards (Ekuban, Colombo, Vitinha, Esteban) scored more than once so far.
And this is creating all sorts of problems. The other teams are probably aware that Genoa can't do anything in offense, except by accident, so they are having an easier time preparing a game plan for this side. Or/and the overall quality of Genoa has declined beyond belief by the departure of some veteran players such as Milan Badelj, and Genoa can no longer hold its own.
Whatever the reason may be, Genoa is always going towards a defeat, in every game, and there's nothing that would suggest a change in the other direction.
That being said, the sacking of both Patrick Vieira and the sporting director Marco Ottolini was considered, but in the end only Ottolini left. For now. The crazy part is that Juventus wants him. It's hard to understand which part of his roster work in Genoa qualifies him to join another club, let alone a top one, as he left Genoa in a really bad shape.

Sassuolo is favoured but apparently only because this is a classic relegation six-pointer, and because Sassuolo is a newcomer into this league. There's definitely value in the price of 2.45 on Sassuolo, as they deserve more credit than they're given here.
The bookmakers expect nothing but a low-scoring game as the price on Under 2.5 Goals is 1.53. On the other hand, Both Teams To Score: NO is priced at 1.75 so that's a large discrepancy to the Under.
We'd lean towards Over 2.5 Goals for 2.50 here as a value bet. The last six meetings saw both teams score, and five went over 2.5. It never seems to be a quiet game when these two sides meet.
The Betting Verdict
The only unknown here is how will Sassuolo look like now when they're finally in the role of a favourite. We can assume this cunning side will find a way to again bring the ball into the final third slowly and then score sooner than the opponent can make a block. It's not like Sassuolo will dictate play here and push Genoa into their own box, this isn't that kind of a game, this is a game of equal opponents who will be battling throughout the pitch.
And we think that, in a game of equal opponents, a side that knows how to make chances count will fare much better than the toothless one. Sassuolo has a good chance to win this one.
