In a summer of upheaval, Manchester City fans will be glad to see the team produce a couple of wins to lay down an early marker to the rest of the Premier League. Matheus Nunes and Jeremy Doku are doubts, but the new signings will be available even if the manager chooses to stick with the starting eleven that dominated in South London last time out.
Coventry City
They may be heading back into the Premier League as the second tier Champions, but Coventry City have already seen how tough it can be at this level. Frank Lampard is experienced, but there has to be questions about the business done in the summer market, especially compared with Hull City and Ipswich Town, and that leaves Coventry City in a tough spot over the next four months.
Reinforcements could come in during the January transfer window, but that may be too late if Coventry City cannot pick up some positive results very quickly. The club may have hoped for a more comfortable schedule on their return to the top flight, but Coventry City face the Runners Up from the 2025/26 season having already been beaten at Arsenal on the opening weekend.
Coventry City scored four goals in beating Plymouth Argyle in the League Cup Second Round, but they have failed to score in the Premier League and have lost both fixtures. The home defeat to Hull City last weekend will have particularly stung, while Coventry City's run of 1 loss in the last 9 away games played in all competitions has been built on playing outside of the top flight.
Bobby Thomas came off with some cramping issues, but should be passed fit, while Frank Onyeka is another edging closer to a return.

The defeat to Hull City last Saturday is going to have dented confidence, especially as Frank Lampard's men struggled to create quality looks in the final third. They may not have deserved to lose, but it is hard to say Coventry City did enough to win and this is as big a test as they are going to be facing this season.
All of the expectation is on the home team, which is something Coventry City may be able to exploit, but Manchester City are well accustomed to dealing with that pressure. The squad has more options in the attacking areas after signings made last week so scoring goals should not be an issue, especially with Erling Haaland back at it last week, and Manchester City could breeze past this Asian Handicap mark set.
It is a similar price to backing Manchester City to win with a clean sheet and the home team look strong enough to score at least three times in a winning effort on Saturday, which may be all that is needed to secure a full win for the selection.
